Renting baby gear in Istanbul: 10 things to check
Before you book and when the equipment arrives: a checklist so your stroller, car seat and cot are safe, clean and right for your child.
Renting baby gear in Istanbul saves luggage and stress, but a few checks make sure everything goes smoothly. Use this list of ten things before you book, when the equipment arrives and during your stay. It applies to strollers, car seats, cots, high chairs and carriers alike.
Before you book
1. The age and weight range
Every stroller, car seat and cot is made for a range. Check your child's age and weight against the range on the product page, and think about the end of your trip, not just the start. Children grow quickly, and a seat that fits on day one should still fit on the last day.
2. The right type for your plans
Old-town sightseeing needs sturdier wheels; lots of taxis need a light fold; twins need a double stroller. Read the best stroller for Istanbul if you are unsure, or message us your plans.
3. The full delivery address
Give the hotel name, the full address and your room number if you have it. We deliver to hotels and homes, not to the airport. For apartments, add the building entrance and floor so the driver finds you quickly.
4. Delivery and collection times
Choose times when you or hotel reception can receive and hand back the equipment. Rental days are counted in 24-hour periods from delivery to collection, so a collection one hour later than the delivery time adds a day.
5. The total price
Check the order summary before you send the booking: rental, delivery and pick-up fee, any discount and the deposit are all shown, so there are no surprises.
6. The deposit and payment
We take a small refundable cash deposit at delivery and return it in cash at collection. You pay the rental in cash, by card at the door or by bank transfer, as you choose in the booking.
When the equipment arrives
7. Clean and complete
Check that the equipment is clean and that all parts are there: canopy, rain cover, straps, mattress or tray, depending on the item. Everything we rent is cleaned and disinfected between rentals.
8. Brakes, harness and buckles
Test the stroller brake, open and close the harness buckles and adjust the straps to your child before the first outing. For car seats, check that the seat sits firmly once fitted. General child safety guidance from the World Health Organization is a good reference.
9. How to fold and fit
Ask us to show you how to fold the stroller and fit the car seat. A two-minute demo saves a lot of time later at taxi ranks and ferry piers.
During your stay
10. Know who to call
If something stops working, stop using it and message us. We repair or replace equipment as soon as possible. Plans change? You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before delivery, and you can ask to extend the rental at least 24 hours before collection.
