Ataşehir is the newest part of the Asian side: wide boulevards, tall residence blocks and a lot of business travel. The older neighbourhoods towards Kayışdağı are hillier, with narrow pavements and parked cars.
Getting to the centre
The M8 metro stops at Küçükbakkalköy, İçerenköy and Kayışdağı and links to the M4 at Kozyatağı and to the Marmaray at Bostancı. Stations have lifts. From Kadıköy the ferry takes you across to Eminönü and Karaköy.
